Based on your submission of Part 1, you will travel to the selected courthouse and observe the criminal proceeding(s). You are not expected to observe criminal proceedings for a full day or observe a trial for multiple days; a morning or afternoon session should provide all that is needed to complete the assignment (the estimated time of observation is 4 hours or less). After your observation of the criminal proceeding, you will write a 3-5 page summary and analysis of the proceedings, courtroom workgroup, and other criminal justice issues from your observation. Your paper must be in current APA format with a title page, references, and abstract in addition to the summary. Part one can be used as reference. Use below website for part 2 and chose a case.
The instructor can permit a student to complete the assignment by observing a criminal proceeding online. The following web site provides video streaming that is not edited for the television or the “infotainment” industry and is approved as the best alternative to the sights, sounds, and flow of an actual criminal courtroom:
