1. Why is research important to policy making?
2. looking at law enforcement policy - what are some changes that would cause policy change?
3. Policy on restraint, what do you think should be the common practice and should there be some level of different kinds of restraints for different crimes?
4. Research is one of those aspects in an aggressive and effective process but what are some of those research factors you would look at in making a law enforcement policy?
5. That informal social control is a challenge in both the concept and intent. Social control often means that we need some kind of cooperation within the community. We also cannot see or control everything so you begin to see that police are just one system among a system of systems. That is part of the discussion about community policing. How do we all work together?
6. You will read about these in your text and are steps that you need to remember in any successful process but which one to you would be the hardest for an organization to do and why?
Steps to making a good policy:: a) problem identification, (b) policy demands, (c) agenda formation, (d) policy adoption, (e) policy implementation, and (f) policy evaluation.
