Despite airport precautions, X hijacked an airplane in Chicago and forced the pilot, crew, and passengers to fly to New York. Upon reaching New York, X shot the pilot before giving up and surrendering to the New York City police. X was later prosecuted for various crimes stemming from the hijacking. Cases were filed against X in Chicago, the New York state court, and in New York federal court. X claims that he could be tried only in a state court in Illinois.
