Core Values and Mission Statement Assignment – 25 Points Total
Part I - 14 points
For each of the 7 wellness pillars you will develop a list (2-5) of core values (statements – bullet point format / no paragraphs) that provide the critical foundation or basis of how and why you live out your life in that wellness pillar area or how it impacts the daily decisions you make.
Part II - 7 points
Provide a very brief rational (1or 2 sentences using a separate bullet point for each rational if you have more than 1) on how this has developed into a Core Value for you. These might be life experiences, people who helped you or influenced you, education, or any combination of things or events.
OR
If you think you are not fulfilling any of your core values in any of the wellness areas, you can also develop a goal for that core value which you think could or will help you live out your Core Values for that wellness area. Please note that each Core Value you state for each Wellness Pillar might have a corresponding rational statement or goal statement but it is not required.
Part III – 4 points
Develop a written Mission Statement of what you think at this point in life is your mission. The Mission Statement should support what is stated in your Core Values but not necessarily have a direct stated correlation to each core value. This means that your Mission Statement should not just reword all the information in your Core Values but should be a reflection of them while stating a way to fulfill your life’s purpose. The Mission Statement should be concise (2-5 sentences) and to the point that encompasses critical elements of how you will live out your life based on your Core Values.
When writing your Core Values please consider the following. You will develop a list (2-5) of core values (statements - not a paragraph) that provide the critical foundation or basis of how and why you live out your life in that wellness area or how it impacts the daily decisions you make. You will be making statements about what you believe are the key elements for each Wellness area that shapes your thoughts, behaviors, and language for that wellness area.
