A contracting firm collected data on its previously completed commercial facility construction projects. The data is provided in the table below (a separate Excel spreadsheet file is provided as well), with the following column titles:
Cost = Actual direct cost in $100,000
SqFt = Square footage of the facility in 1,000 square feet
LinFtInt = Linear footage of interior walls in 100 linear feet
SqFtExt = Square footage of exterior walls in 1,000 square feet
1) (10 points) Generate an estimate for the following project using the ratio estimating method for a new project with the following features:
SqFt = 30
LinFtInt = 5
SqFtExt = 14
Please select one appropriate past project as the base and one appropriate feature from the three available in the dataset. Please explain the choice of the project and the feature in one sentence each. The ratio should not be raised to any power.

2) (15 points) Generate a parametric models using simple linear regression for estimating the direct cost of commercial facility construction projects performed by this firm based on the square footage of exterior walls.

3) (10 points) Estimate the cost of the new project (defined in item 1 above) using the simple linear regression model developed in item 2. Calculate the 95% prediction interval for the estimate.

4) (15 points) Generate a parametric model using multiple linear regression for estimating the cost of commercial facility construction projects performed by this firm using all three parameters given above.

5) (20 points) Propose a new parametric model for estimating the direct cost of commercial facility construction projects performed by this firm that you believe will be better than above models. The proposal for the new model should be based on the understanding of the nature of the project and results from earlier analyses. No additional calculations should be carried out for identifying the variables to be included. Defend your choice of variables in a brief paragraph not exceeding 100 words. Regression analysis should be conducted only to generate the equation corresponding to the new model.

6) (10 points) Estimate the cost of the new project (defined in item 1 above) using the model developed in item 5. You do not need to calculate the prediction interval for this one.

7) (10 points) Comment on the three estimates for the new project calculated in items 1, 3, and 6. The comment should not exceed 150 words.
