Using either "The Things We Carried," "Guests of a Nation," or "Sonny's Blues," this essay involves analyzing how and why the main character in the short story changes over the course of the narrative. Students may write their essays on "The Things We Carried,"  "Guests of a Nation" or "Sonny's Blues." In the Introductory paragraph, state the theme of the story, which is the meaning that the author tends to communicate by writing the story, then make a thesis statement that focuses on how the main character changes over the course of the narrative. In the body of the essay, analyze the main character's thoughts and actions during the narrative. The final paragraph needs to be your observation about the character at the end of the narrative. This essay should be about two to three pages, and should include in-text references documented using MLA format along with Works Cited page.  (15%)
