Composition English 101

Page 159, "Try this out" exercise #1: Find an advertisement in a magazine or online that you think is persuasive (or not). Then write a one page analysis of the advertisement in which you discuss why you think it is effective (or not). Look closely at its use of reasoning, credibility, and emotion. What kinds of support does the advertiser rely on most? What do those rhetorical strategies say about the people the advertiser is targeting?

(Note from Dr. Emi: If you can't make it to a page, aiming for two paragraphs is also just fine.)
