comparison/contrast essay

àESSAY ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY: Write a comparison/contrast essay, approximately 4-5 pages in length, 1500 words min, which addresses two relevant items, and is structured with either an item-by-item or a criterion-by-criterion format.  Essays should have an appropriate introduction, development, and conclusion.  Essays may utilize resource material which must be documented with in-text citations in MLA format. 

I. Introduction: Hook -  Get reader’s attention
   Thesis : State your position concerning your
   argumentative topic
II. Your Arguments (60% - 80% of your essay)
    Facts, details, analyses, examples, evidence to support
    your position
III. Consider  Opposing Views (Section III & IV: 8%-15% of
      your essay)
     Fairly represent other views on your topic
IV.  Refutation (Arguing Against) Opposing Views
V.   Conclusion ? Restate argumentative position and expand
     or finalize topic
