Compare and Contrast Poetry

 Essay Option 1: Compare/Contrast Essay

• Study two different poems about wind.
• Write a five paragraph compare/contrast essay showing how these two poems are similar and how they each create meaning on the theme/idea in their own ways.
• Format options: 

1-In each body paragraph focus on a different element of the poems (i.e. figurative language, symbolism, theme, tone, etc.) and identify the similarities & differences. 
2-Include one body paragraph of similarities, one body paragraph of differences, and a third body paragraph on theme.

• Be sure to include textual evidence (quotes) to support your ideas.
• Include copies of the poems you are comparing at the beginning of your essay. (This does not count towards the paragraph count.)
• Your essay should use correct grammar and punctuation.

Essay Option 2: Personal Response

• Write a five paragraph essay analyzing a poem of your choice.
  
• In each body paragraph focus on a different element of the poem (i.e. figurative language, symbolism, theme, tone, etc.)
• Be sure to include textual evidence (quotes) to support your ideas.
• Include a copy of the poem you are analyzing at the beginning of your essay.  (This does not count towards the paragraph count.
• Your essay should use correct grammar and punctuation.
