As an exercise in effective persuasion, write both an argument and a counter-argument on a topic of your choice (social justice and/or a work-related topic).  Aim for between 150-175 words for each paragraph.  Although you'll favour only one position, try to be equally persuasive whether pro or con. 

Identify your chosen topic in the subject line of your post.  Only one student can address any single topic, and you can reserve it (to be completed before the deadline) by identifying it in your subject line.  As you're well aware, there are many controversial topics related to social justice and other issues.  If something doesn't readily come to mind, you may wish to confer with working professionals in your chosen field and/or browse secondary sources such as the following two web sites.  For example, if a student planned to go into social work they could review the following two web sites.  Don't write about abortion.
