For instance, Lasix usually works quickly and effectively, is generally tolerated well even at high doses without complications, and it has a relatively low cost compared to other options (Joseph, Cedars, Ewald, Geltman, & Mann, 2009). Diuretic therapy for a patient with fluid overload, especially when the respiratory system is compromised, is essential as “early intervention in this regard has been associated with better outcomes for patients hospitalized with ADHF” (Joseph et al., 2009).
