There was an interesting study by Thomas and his coworkers (2001) that I found about factors that contribute to compliance with renal diet. Some of those factors included being Caucasian, having a supportive environment, and having high knowledge about the importance of the renal diet. I agree that the most important role as a nurse is to educate our patients. It is also important to educate their family to create a supportive environment.
