Abstract

The most common cause of falsely high alcohol breath concentration is as a result of the presence of mouth alcohol (MA) during breath alcohol test for the enforcement of the law. The effort of the police for proper prosecution is facilitated by fast and reliable test detection of MA at the roadside at the scene. There was a validation of a tentative technique to use exhaled water vapor orally as the reference gas to stage the origin of alcohol. Water always precedes alcohol in an expirogram volumetric in the absence of MA. That relationship is reversed in the presence of MA. (Dubowski, 1996).

Zusammenfassung

This is a beam of light that is generated by a source of light that has a wavelength which corresponds to absorption spectrum of ethanol preferably in the range of 3.29-3.53um wavelength. It can also be in one or more wavelength ranges that is sent through a space of measuring that contains a sample of exhaled breath. Basing on the analysis of the spectral dependence of light intensity to the concentration of alcohol, ethanol concentration of vapor is determined and the content level of ethanol is provided to a suitable device or display.

Beschreibung

The above is a measurement method invention that relates to quantitative concentration determination of alcohol in the human breath sample purposely for determination of alcohol blood concentration. Alveolar breath is the one used to reflect the actual concentration of blood alcohol. Deep lung breath that is uncontaminated is the most preferred for the analysis of the blood alcohol concentration (Gullberg, 2001).

Advantages and disadvantages of the measurement methods

            The methods indicated above are so precise and are the best and convenient in testing of alcohol. They can be used by the roadsides by the law enforcers to detect a drunk driver. The methods are significant and important in detecting the cause of accidents. Since most accidents in the roads are caused by careless drivers who drive carelessly after the effect and influence of alcohol. The methods are disastrous if not used and handled well by the users. They can cause cancer and eventually result to death.
