2. Define collaboration & communication 

Define what a transition is: what transition are we focusing on? Elementary to Middle

Why is it important to discuss or learn effective collaboration and communication strategies in regards to transitions? EX: Help children with disabilities feel at ease, assists parents with transition process, and also provides guidelines or helpful insights to the child’s specific needs in the classroom for their new teachers

 

Can be applied in practice: as teachers or behavioral staff & therapists (in IEPS)

The audience will learn effective collaboration and communication strategies

 

Research can inform practice by providing guidelines/tips to a hopeful successful transition for special needs students 

 

3. Describe the demographic breakdown of their school/agency or neighborhood. How often are each of you confronted with issues of diversity, and how are addressed by your organization or by you as an individual?  Discuss at least three ways you can continue to ensure that you are sensitive to the needs of others from different genders, cultures, backgrounds, etc. in your own practice. 

 

4.In addition, discuss two key ways you could evaluate the ongoing success of a collaborative team? How often would you evaluate the partnership and what would you look for?
