"Client/Server Model"  Please respond to the following:

Discuss the client / server model and how different applications are used in this model.

•From the e-Activity, explain considerations for application server hardware and how different requirements, such as remote use, affect the choices needed. Be prepared to discuss choosing a deployment strategy including the following topics: 1) High-Touch with Retail Media, 2) High Touch with Standard Image, 3) Lite-Touch, High-volume deployment, and 3) Zero-touch, High-volume deployment.

"Server Roles / Features and Server Deployment"  Please respond to the following:

•Based on the requirements of your organization, a Windows server 2008 computer can manage one role or many roles. Discuss concerns that arise when planning enterprise application server deployments and give an example of a benefit of distributing server roles among many servers.

•Imagine that you are a network administrator and you have been tasked to design a deployment solution for a rollout of 250 installations of Windows 7 and 25 installations of Windows Server 2008. You have only 20 available servers on which to deploy Windows Server 2008. Ten other servers are being used to host Windows NT and Linux applications, and the utilization rates of those servers average 15 percent of capacity. Develop the deployment strategy you should use. Given this scenario, explain how you can use virtualization to reduce the costs associated with deploying Windows server 2008.

"File Server Deployment"  Please respond to the following:

•Identify the topics that should be kept in mind when planning for a file server deployment. Explain how different scenarios, such as restricted access or sensitive files, affect the number of file servers deployed.

•From the e-Activity, explain the file services role and file classification infrastructure. Describe each role service along with uses of features and extrapolate in which enterprise scenarios they would be useful (e.g., granting access to printers or files in different limited ways.)

"File Storage Strategy"  Please respond to the following:

•Imagine that you are a server administrator for Company.com. You are tasked to design Windows 2008 servers to host a database and the company’s Web application that will be used heavily by 1,000 employees. The goals are to minimize the downtime, provide the best possible performance for both the application and the database, and provide a cost-effective solution. Suggest the best strategy to implement fault tolerance and explain why.

•Suppose that you are designing storage for a new application server. The application heavily uses temporary storage, and you want to allocate a few new 120-GB very secured disk drives to that storage. Excellent read and write performance is a high priority, you want to use as much available space as possible, and you also want to reduce the costs associated with deploying Windows server 2008. Compare different types of partitions, disks, volumes, and file systems. Select the strategy you would use in this scenario and explain why.

"Deploying a Print Server – Fax Server Role"  Please respond to the following:

•Describe the Fax Server role. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of deploying a Fax server versus installing a simple Fax machine in a small-business environment.

•Analyze the considerations for sharing a printer and some of the details on printer security and applying permissions to a printer. Identify and compare the different methods of configuring printer management to address varying enterprise security scenarios.

"Windows Print Architecture"  Please respond to the following:

•Analyze the differences between a printer and a print device in a Windows print architecture. Give two reasons why it is worthwhile to allocate a single computer as the print server as opposed to allowing each client to function as its own print server in an enterprise environment

•From the e-Activity, differentiate among direct printing, locally attached printer sharing, network-attached printing, and network-attached printer sharing. Describe a scenario and choose the strategy that best suits the scenario. Support your response.
