STEP 1: Visio Tutorial: Fully
Attributed ERD (Due Week 4)

Back
to top

The first step of this milestone
provides you with hands-on experience using Visio as a tool for creating
diagrams. While the content of this tutorial is how to create a Fully
Attributed ERD, the primary purpose of the tutorial is to increase your comfort
with diagram creation in Visio. (You will not be creating a Fully Attributed
ERD for the ECS case until Milestone 4, Part II).

When you have completed the
tutorial, paste the completed diagram into a Word document.

For the first part of this
milestone, you will be using the following resource.

Visio
Tutorial: Fully Attributed Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)

STEP 2: Milestone 4, Part I:
Entity Definition Matrix (Due Week 4)

Back
to top

In this milestone, you will first
discover those entities in the system that are or might be described by data.
This week, you will only do the first part of Milestone 4. You will define each
entity that you identify in respect to the business and list it in an Entity
Definition Matrix. Review all of the previous milestone interviews, read the
Milestone 4 interview, and study the exhibits that follow that interview to
discover the entities in the system. The details of this milestone can be found
in the Milestone 4 Description.

For the first part of this
milestone, you will be using the following resources and templates:

Milestone 4 Description

Milestone 1 - 3 Solutions

Create an Entity Definition
Matrix in Word or Excel, then add your finished content into the Word document
that you used for your completed diagram in STEP 1.

STEP 3: Milestone 4, Part II:
Fully Attributed ERD for ECS Case (Due Week 5)

Back
to top

Even though the Fully Attributed
ERD for the ECS case is not due until next week, you can start working on it.
Use your Entity Definition Matrix that you created in STEP 1 as a source in creating
the diagram. Reminder: The Fully-Attributed ERD is not due until next week.
While you may begin your draft of the diagram based on your Entity Definition
Matrix, be sure that your final draft (which you will submit next week) is
based on the solution for Milestone 4, Part I, provided by your instructor
after the STEP 1 due date.
