Can you write a Great Essay
This essay will explore a topic in popular culture and demonstrate an intersectional feminist analysis.
The class "Introduction to WGS" focused on some of the key concepts (gender, race, class, and sexuality) and it's intersections with institutions like economy, family, media and the State. Also, we read and discussed some of the gains of the women’s movement and the continuing struggle for some feminists to address issues of gender, race, sexuality, and politics.
The final essay will be 6 pages in length. The paper will do the following:
- Read the foll two links OR any other report about the upcoming Women's march to be held in January 2017 in Washington DC:
- Identify three issues highlighted by the organizers (For eg: reproductive justice, LGBTQI rights, immigration, wage gap, violence against women, hate crimes etc)
- Discuss each of these issues (role of the women’s movement is bringing this issue to the fore historically, gains made so far, and current struggle/threats of overturning). Engage with the readings here (listed or recommended in the syllabus)
- In your Conclusion: reflect on how we can address these issues?
- Citations and reference: apart from the ones listed on the syllabus if you use outside sources cite them appropriately (min. 6 sources).
