(1) Notice whether the work is successful/achieves its purpose (to inform, to persuade)

(2) Notice whether the author(s) show bias and/or hidden assumptions and whether these make the piece more/less effective.

(3) Notice how well the author(s) have defined terms and have used/interpreted information accurately and logically.
