(Journal 2 )
You took the Personality Spectrum in class on page 7 of your Life Management workbook.
- Share what your result came out to be first.
- Then I want you to share using pages 8-9 in your workbook what the strengths and weaknesses are of someone with your personality type. Here also share personal examples when talking about your strengths and weaknesses.
- Now that you know your personality type, how can you help your group during in class group activities?
Remember to write at least 250 words!
(Journal 3)
Below I have provided 10 victim language statements which you have to turn into creator language statements. You don't have to type the victim language statements that I provided below, just type the 10 creator language statements you come up with.
For example:
Victim Language: I'll never do as well as John; he's a genius.
Creator Language: I need help in this course, so I'm going to ask John if he'll help me study for the exams.
(**For more examples refer to Chapter 2 of your On-Course textbook)
Here are the 10 victim language statements:
1) If they'd do something about the parking on campus, I wouldn't be late so often.
2) I'm failing my online class because the site is impossible to navigate.
3) I'm too shy to ask questions in class even when I'm confused.
4) She's a lousy instructor. That's why I failed the first test.
5) I hate group projects because people are lazy and I always end up doing most of the work.
6) I wish I could write better but I just can't.
7) My friend got me so angry that I can't even study for the exam.
8) I'll try to do my best this semester.
9) The financial aid form is too complicated to fill out.
10) I work nights so I didn't have time to do the assignment.
Write a few sentences about what you have learned or relearned about how you use language: Is it your habit to speak as a Victim or as a Creator? Do you find yourself more inclined to blame yourself, blame others, or seek solutions? Be sure to provide at least one example.
Remember I'm here to answer any questions that you may have!
See you in class :)
(Journal Fourth)
In Chapter 4 (in your On –Course textbook), the author talks about 4 quadrants. I want you to list these quadrants and fill in 3-4 specific actions you have taken recently into each quadrant.
It should look something like this:
Quadrant I: Urgent and Important
Staying up all night cramming for an 8:00am test. (List 2-3 more action in this quadrant).
Quadrant II: Not Urgent and Important
Creating a study group in the first week of the semester. (List 2-3 more action in this quadrant).
Quadrant III: Urgent and Not Important
Attending a meeting that has nothing to do with my goals. (List 2-3 more action in this quadrant).
Quadrant IV: Not Urgent and Not Important
Mindlessly watching TV until 4:00am. (List 2-3 more action in this quadrant).
Write about what you have learned or relearned concerning your use of time. Consider the following questions when answering.
- What exactly did you discover after analyzing your time?
- In which quadrant did you spend the most time?
- If you continue using your time in this way, are you likely to reach your goals and dreams? Why or why not?
- What most often keeps your from taking purposeful actions?
- How you do you feel about discoveries?
- What different choices, if any, do you intend to make about how you use time?
(Journal 5)
- Based on your Strength Quest results, what are your 5 strengths? Do you agree with your results? Why or why not?
- How can you use your strengths in your personal planning (academic, professional, relational…)?
- When and where have you used your 5 strengths with success? Provide examples for each of your 5 strengths!
Remember to dive deep and to write at least 250 words or more to receive full points!
Journal Entry 6 (click here to submit)
Write about a time when you were off course and took effective actions to get back on course. Examples include ending an unhealthy relationship, entering college years after high school, changing careers, stopping an addiction, choosing to be more assertive, or changing negative belief or bias you have about yourself, other people, or the world.
Dive deep in your journal entry (as usual) by asking and answering the questions such as the following:
In what area of my life was I off course?
What choices had I made to get off course?
What changes did I make to get back on course?
What challenges did I face while making this change?
What personal strengths helped me make this change?
What benefits did I experience as a result of my change?
If I hadn’t made this change, what would my life be like today?
Are you off course today on an area in your life? If so elaborate.
Remember it has to be at least 250 words!
