Chapter 12 of our textbook is focused on People & Organizations.  In our earlier readings this semester relating to some of the challenges of managing a small business, the topic of managing employee performance was often mentioned. The text mentioned that the staffing function involves (1) selecting, (2) placing, (3) training, (4) developing, (5) compensating, and (6) evaluating the performance of employees.

Learning Activity

Discuss the reasons why you believe small businesses have a harder time of managing each of the 6 staffing functions that were previously mentioned than larger organizations. Support your responses with a discussion of the implications on the future growth and efficiency of the organization and the lasting implications impacting the management team.
