a. Identify the three (3) key economic variables that are used to define a business 
cycle.
4. Part 2: Based upon the three (3) key economic variables, what are the characteristics of a recession? 
5. Part 3: Identify the recessions that have occurred in the United States 
economy for the period (1980""?2010). Support your answers with 
specific economic data relative to the key economic variables. Use 
monthly, and quarterly data.
a. What is the principle factor that causes a recession?
6. Part 4: What specific fiscal policies were proposed by the President and legislated by Congress in the recessions of the 1980s, and 2000s. What were the key provisions of these policies?



7. Part 5: Based upon your analysis, were the fiscal policies effective in moving the economy to recovery? Yes or No. Why or Why Not? Support your conclusion using economic data. 
8. Part 6: What is meant by a jobless recovery? Was there a jobless recovery in the recessions of the 2000s? Support your conclusion with specific economic data.
9. Part 7: Compare and contrast the recession of 1980-1982 with the Great Recession of 2007-2009. 
10. Bibliography Section: Please include at least 3 references utilizing MLA format.
