Budget Reform for the Probation Department

PART II
Directions: You have been contacted by your local probation department as a consultant to help address budget reform for the department and associated common pleas court to improve sentencing strategies and reduce costs long-term for the court and probation department. Research court, probation, and sentencing budgets and prepare a four-page recommendation paper addressing your findings in regards to the learning objectives and outcomes listed at the beginning of this module, paying special attention to address why and how criminal justice policymakers are reforming sentencing laws to reduce corrections expenditures. You may need to contact some criminal justice professionals for an interview to gather more information about how budgeting works for corrections departments, as well as to gather information on sentencing reform measures that could impact the budget constraints long-term as requested by your client.
