Basselopes were created by Berkeley Breathed in his Bloom County Comic Strip. Berkeley Breathed wrote an entire book devoted to the basselope entitled The Last Basselope: One Ferocious Story.
A basselope is part Basset Hound and part Antelope. They are very rare. Rumor has them to be vicious and unpredictable creatures when in fact they are very docile, peaceful animals. See attached mug shots of the last basselope named Rosebud.
Your assignment is to discuss/describe the pre-zygotic and post-zygotic reproductive barriers that are present that may or may not impede the mating of a Basset Hound and an Antelope.
