The Introduction: Wild pigs, also known as wild hogs or feral pigs, were introduced into the Americas by Spanish explorers in the 1500s.  Currently, feral pigs are prevalent in 36 states and sites in 47 states.  Most wild pigs originate from escaped domestic pigs and some introduced wild boar, which will freely hybridize.  So what's the problem with invasive species in general and wild pigs in particular?
