Acid Rain, Part II:

During the last two weeks (Units 4 and 5), you were asked to make additional observations on each of your cuttings at least twice a week, taking special note of any changes you observe since the last time you looked at the plants. You should fill out the data Table located in DocSharing to record your observations. If you were able to take digital pictures each week to document these changes, that would be wonderful.

This week you will submit a report that describes the interim progress of your project. Your report should describe what has occurred with the different cuttings in the different water treatments and it should include all of your observations into a Microsoft Word table that is located in DocSharing.

Review your original hypotheses from Week 1 and assess whether or not what you thought was going to take place is actually occurring, keeping in mind that your grade on this Assignment will not be based on whether or not you were correct. The following questions should also be addressed in the discussion of your findings collected thus far:

What effect does the different water sources appear to be having on the plant cuttings?
What do expect will happen by the end of this project in Unit 9?
Are your results supporting your original hypotheses? If so, how? If not, create a newly revised hypothesis

Remember your that Assignment must be written as an essay and must be formatted as per APA-formatting guidelines.

Alternative Assignment: Acid Rain: As an alternative to the acid rain experiment described above, you may submit the following Assignment:

During Units 4 and 5 you should perform additional research on acid rain in your area. Describe the research you have performed including your resources (such as internet sources, conversations with local officials, newspaper articles, etc). Record several observations regarding current rainfall in the area and any changes in your environment that would suggest the presence of acid rain. You must prepare a report summarizing your observations, including a discussion as to whether or not your original hypothesis is still valid.

Submitting Your Assignment

Save your copy of the APA-formatted Assignment in a location and with a name that you will remember. Be sure to use the "Save As" option to include your first and last name in the title of the document. For example, your Assignment might be calledShawn_Edwards_Unit 6.doc. Please remember that all of your Assignments must be formatted as per APA-formatting guidelines.

When you are ready to submit it, click on the Dropbox and complete the steps below:

Click the link that says Submit an Assignment.
In the "Submit to Basket" menu, select Unit 6: Final Project
In the "Comments" field, include at least the title of your paper
Click the Add Attachments button.
Follow the steps listed to attach your Word document.
To view your graded work, come back to the Dropbox or go to the Gradebook after your instructor has evaluated it. Click the Dropbox to access it.
Make sure that you save a copy of your submitted Assignment.
