Option #1: Manual Paper

Your role and task: You are a technical writer for a company or organization. This may be one you have actually worked for or work for now. Part of your job is to write manuals for new employees.

For this week’s assignment you will write a chapter from a manual. But do not be intimidated by the word chapter. Your piece should be 2-3 pages in length. Choose a subject you are familiar with, perhaps from the work you do.

Be sure to think carefully about your audience and address what you see as their needs in the information you give. Carefully proofread what you write and make sure no steps are left out. It is also recommended that you read what you write to a friend, colleague, or family member and ask for feedback about its clarity.
