Based on the slave trade data you collected, and our assigned readings, write an essay that discusses the fundamental features of the slave trade to the particular region assigned to you during the slave trade workshop. In this paper, you will want to discuss (in comparison to the entire transatlantic slave trade) the volume of the slave trade; the average size of the slave cargos; the shipboard mortality; and the region of Africa where the slaves were purchased. You will also be expected to contextualize these figures with assigned readings, such as the Keene text (Chapters 2 & 3) and Alexander Falconbridge's horrific eighteenth-century account of North Atlantic slaving.
