Project 3:  Medical Marijuana

Fourteen states currently have laws allowing the use of marijuana for medical purposes, which means that individuals in those states have a defense against state criminal prosecution for prescribed marijuana use. In some states where this is the case, the law specifically states that employers need not accommodate the use of medical marijuana in the workplace. However, this issue is not clear in every state, leaving some employers confused about whether or not they must allow employees to be under the influence of medical marijuana in the workplace.

Discuss some of the potential workplace issues from an HR perspective if medical marijuana is legalized in our state.
