A literature review is a text of a scholarly paper that includes the current knowledge and important findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions, about a particular topic. Literature reviews are secondary sources, and do not report new or original experimental work.
So, what does it mean to summarize? It means to tell the information again in fewer words. It can be challenging to accomplish this while keeping all the important points of the article!
What does it mean to synthesize? It means to produce or make something by using or combining different things. In our case, therefore, you’ll need to produce a paper that specifically explains the topic, using information from all of the sources. Your introductory paragraph could explain what topic has been chosen and why. You don’t need a thesis statement.
As you write the paper, do not summarize each article on its own. Rather, discuss the topic integrating parts of each article as appropriate, or at the right time. Back up or be able to substantiate a statement you make using information contained in the articles, the text, and our discussions. Your conclusion will reinforce what you wrote in the paper, while you share potential new directions that the topic can be researched.
