-In the introduction provide a brief background of the demographics of the district and identify by position the Curriculum leader being interviewed?
I am discussing the school district of Spring Lake Park, which includes the north suburban city of Spring Lake Park, as well as parts of the cities of Fridley and Blaine.
(I was superintendent there from 1997-2009).  The school district has about 30,000 residents and about 5,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.  About 35-40% of the students are non-white.  The person in charge of curriculum was our Director of Teaching and Learning.

•  Summarize the district’s Curriculum Adoption and Development process by addressing the following interview questions:

 who determines what curriculum is used?
The Director of Teaching and Learning makes the final decision.  However, he uses a team made up of building principals and teachers who would be using the new curriculum, in order to gather the best possible information before making a decision.
 what are the considerations or basis for the design of the curriculum used?
The team would want a curriculum with learning outcomes that matched the needs and desires of the district and the schools.  Additional consideration would be given to the needs and deficits of the learners.  For example, if the student learners had a limited English proficiency, the team would want to be sure that the curriculum had materials and a methods-based pedagogy that would assist the teachers in meeting those additional needs.

 what is the district’s curriculum adoption process?
The process actually begins in the school year prior to selection, and the actual adoption and implementation would commence the following year.  So, if we want to start using a new curriculum in 2019, we would begin the process in the fall of 2017.  During that year, the team would look at the various curricula available, as well as the pricing and costs.  During the 2018 year, the team would select the final choice, and then they would begin the training and professional development necessary for the teachers to effectively implement it the following year.  In 2019, they would implement it, but tey would also continue the professional training for teachers.
 how is the curriculum document communicated to the teachers who use it?
As I already stated, the teachers would be involved from the start, and they would immediately begin the professional development in the year preceding its implementation.

- Reflect on the Curriculum Adoption and Development process, addressing the following reflective questions:

  What would be the positive aspects of this curriculum adoption and development process?
It is a researched-based process that allows a lot of participation by the teachers would be impacted by a new curriculum.  It also involves leadership, and could even involve some parents, if so desired.
  What would be the issues/concerns with this curriculum adoption and process?
Any change brings concerns, but this minimizes most of those concerns.

 How literacy and numeracy were addressed in the curriculum documents?
Since I was the only social studies teacher, curriculum documents were created and used by me. I did work with elementary teachers from time to time to help them develop their social studies curriculum.

In summary, reflect on your own experience related to the interview. Consider the

following questions:

 Have you ever had a transformational experience with regard to curriculum?

 How did you view curriculum when you first entered the profession, and how do you

view it now? Pleas answer these as students

Note:
I am international student from Saudi Arabia I don’t have any teach experience
When I will back to home I will transfer what I take it ( curriculum )  from here to my country.
