Electoral Issues

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months, you know that campaign 2016 is finally over but that doesn't mean that things have been smooth sailing.

If you have learned nothing else in this class, I truly hope that you have learned to question things; do not take what is said by our politicians, the news media, and those around you at face value; do your research and find out what things mean and what you believe for yourself. That is the purpose of this extra credit assignment.

For this OPTIONAL extra credit assignment, in a 2 page (MINIMUM) paper, fully describe the
following:

·      What do you believe is the biggest issue our country is facing? Is there a historical basis
for this issue? I las the country and/or government tackled it in the past? If so, how was it
addressed and what was the outcome?

·      Do you believe that President-elect Trump will deal with your chosen issue? If so, in

what way? Is there another politician who was involved in the race that you believe
would better deal with your chosen issue? If so who and how do you think they would

have tackled it given the chance?

·      If you were in the position to serve in elected office, how would you, as a representative
of the people, deal with this issue?

Because this is an extra credit assignment, you don't have to include any sort of works cited or
citations. However DO NOT simply copy and paste something off of the internet. That will get
you no points at all for this. You will have to do some sort of research on some of the questions
above; just put the info you find into your own words. You will need to follow all the format and
grammatical guidelines as laid out in the syllabus for the movie review (i.e.- 12 pt black TNR, 1"
margins, single spaced info @ the top, double spaced body of the paper, etc.).

Remember, you do not have to worry about what you think I believe or which candidate you
think I support. One of the greatest things about our country is the fact that we are all entitled to
our own beliefs and opinions. You will do much better and enjoy this paper more if you write
from the heart.

This extra credit assignment is worth a maximum of 10 points.
