Letter Assignment #1- Hurricane Preparedness

Assignment Instructions

Hurricane season is approaching. As the director of operations, you know

that it is difficult to persuade company employees to prepare for the

hurricane season. This year, your goal is to improve action by 45%.

You must send a letter out to your employees and their families (one

household) advising of the start of the up-coming hurricane season. Using

the persuasive method (qualify, problem, solution) ask your employees to

be prepared.

Given your audience, select the appropriate tone. Determine if the indirect

or the direct method should be used in this instance. Gather your

information and prepare your letter.

Formatting Your Memo

Review the materials in the back of your e-book for further reference on how to properly

format your memo. You may use templates and style sheets as discussed in class and

is referenced in your book.

Items to include in your document

1. A separate page within your document with a brief audience analysis

2. At least one source other than Wikipedia.

3. Did you choose the indirect or direct method. Why?

You should include one source that is not Wikipedia.

Please do not forget to format your letter appropriately. The appendix at the back

of your book has how to clearly format the letter should you need a refresher.
