Asian woman study

In your readings, both Aki Uchida and Kathleen Uno have argued that Orientalism, the stereotyping of Asian/Asian American women as submissive, less liberated than Asian women, and submissive, have been exaggerated and largely perpetuated by Western scholars and experiences. Less examined have been the way Asian/Asian American women have had influence, power and agency inside their households/families as mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and grandmothers.

Group A: For this discussion posting, provide one example in which Asian/Asian American women have had influence, power and agency inside their households/families as mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and/or grandmothers. Your posting should be an original response based upon the assigned readings for this week. Indicate in the subject line the title of your post, along with the group you belong to. Be sure to specify the ethnic group, class status of the individual or group you are refering to. Also specify the time period and any struggles/victories they may have experienced. You will want to review your classmates' responses to make sure you do not duplicate any answers.
