Art 101 homework

Contemporary advertisers often appropriate “classic” works of art such as Leonardo’s Mona Lisa, Michelangelo’s David, Munch’s The Scream in order to sell their product.  For this paper:

1. Go to google images (www.google.com; click on images).

2. Choose a “classic” work of art

3. Find an ADVERTISEMENT which uses the “classic” work of art

4. Compare and contrast the two

1. Discuss the significance of the “classic”

2. Discuss the changes the advertiser made to the “classic”

3. Discuss how the advertiser sells the product through the “classic” work of art.

The assignment should be well-written, thoughtful, thorough and should be approximately 2-3 pages, double-spaced.  Include images at the back of your paper.  The assignment must be typed.
