Argumentative Essay

The Argumentative essay requires a discussion of your views regarding a controversial topic, one that you feel strongly about and one for which you can provide a significant argument with the support of scholarly sources (no Wikipedia or similar sources). Address your views of the topic as you acknowledge the views of your opponents.

Topic:  Keep in mind that the topic should be a controversial one, and it should be one that can be supported with scientific fact; therefore, topics that rely on moral or value-based support should be avoided.

Format:

3-4 pages

Size 12 print

Times New Roman font

Double space (all lines)

Heading in top left corner (double spaced)--your name, course name, my name, date

Effective and original title (five words or more)

No bold print, italics, underlining, or quotation marks for emphasis

Use essay format (introduction, body, and conclusion).

Use paragraph format and complete sentences.

Include support from four or more scholarly sources.

Use in-text citations to document source support from the four sources.

Include a Works Cited page with four or more entries—formatted in MLA style.
