Argument Essay - MLA formate
Directions: To receive credit for this essay, all requirements below must be met. Your essay must be in MLA formatting of 4-5 full pages, and include a Hard copies of sources. Support your argument with sound evidence and analysis, while also refuting possible counter-arguments.
Sources: Use the university databases ( http://library.mcneese.edu ) to find two relevant scholarly secondary sources and one primary source FOR A TOTAL OF THREE SOURCES. Academically reliable sources are from a publisher accountable to its reputation/editorial board. Acceptable primary sources include journal articles that present new research, speeches, interviews, etc. Essays must include TWO quotes, ONE paraphrase, and ONE summary.
Prompts:
1. Many education experts claim that viewing art makes us smarter by exposing us to new ways of seeing the world. Yet due to budget crises, some school districts have cut funding to fine arts programming. Make an argument about the role of viewing art in education. Take a stance as to why fine arts programming should be kept in public schools, or make a claim as to why it should not be. Support your claim with details and evidence.
2. Recently, an ESPN analyst criticized the National Collegiate Athletic Association for not paying student athletes whose skills and training are partly responsible for the organization’s annual 10-figure income. Make an argument that college athletes should be paid, or make one about why they should not. Persuade your reader and include specific details and examples that support your argument.
