Consider the topic of your research essay. Develop an argument that PROPOSES a plan for the reader. 

  • Use the links below for outlines for the paper, but basically:
  • Identify the context and background for your problem.
  • Identify major players/who should act and why.
  • Develop a thesis that governs the whole paper.
  • Support the thesis (many paragraphs to this cause!)
  • Identify and refute contradicting or opposite ideas.
  • Return to your thesis and restate it with the force of your whole paper behind you.

Plan for a paper that is 2-3 pages (no more than 1000 words). Use References or Works Cited page (and you MUST refer to or cite works in the paper!)
