Apply Economic Theories
COMPETENCIES TO MASTER
Overview
Everyone has an opinion, but these opinions are not always supported by facts. In order to have meaningful debates and discussions, it is important to be able to distinguish fact from opinion, to identify main ideas, and to analyze argumentative texts.
Directions
In this Project, you will compare and evaluate the arguments made in two opposing articles. First, read the two articles:
- CNN opinion article titled “Why not legalize pot?” by LZ Granderson
- Seattle Times op-ed titled “Don’t legalize marijuana. It’s addictive” by Robert DuPont and Andrea Barthwell.
While reading, complete the Article Worksheet by following the instructions on the Worksheet and using information in the articles themselves.
