Assignment: Interview  an elderly family member, neighbor, or friend about their perceptions of race relations when they were younger and a younger person’s perception of race relations.  Write a brief paper summarizing the information gathered from their interviews and their modern day perceptions of race relations and compare/contrast the two. In the process, they should explore the following questions: What messages do we receive from others about allegedly “good” attributes or “negative” attributes of members of other racial or ethnic groups? How does early racial socialization affect our self-identity? How does it affect our attitudes and actions toward others? You should  incorporate and cite sociological concepts from the chapter on Racal and Ethnic Inequality  (and other textbook  chapters you have read) in your analysis.
