America One Car
America One Car (AOC) dealership is moving into a newly built facility in a suburb town of Washington, D.C.. You are retained as a consultant by AOC dealership to design a network solution for their new location. The new facility is assumed to be already wired up with UTP and fiber, with outlets in specific points.
The basic network is to be a LAN that serves desktop and laptop computers in the general manager’s office, in the salesmen’s area, and the showroom area; mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.); a number of servers (to be specified by you) and various printers.
Of primary importance is the types of servers that the business needs, security and back-up for data in the servers, and a secure remote-access solution (i.e., managers and employees login from remote locations into the servers).
Propose and design a LAN network solution for AOC, considering the following:
• Type, topology and cabling of the enterprise LAN
• Types of server(s) to support the business
• Type of Internet access (e.g., leased lines, Cable, DSL, LTE/WiMax, FTTH, satellite)
• Types of clients (desktops, laptops, printers)
• Server data back-up/recovery
• Security (for clients and servers)
Your deliverable is a Word document of 4-6 pages (not including the title page and the reference page) that describes the network solution, and a diagram that shows the network with all its components. References must be listed and cited in APA format. The report should include the diagram of the proposed network, and a table of the components (it’s recommended that the diagram be drawn with Microsoft’s Visio and embedded into the Word doc).
The final report will be subjected to checking against plagiarism (turnitin.com).
