1. Describe the social issue concerning Disabilites and the substantial social policies which the United States has developed .

2. Explain the social model of assessment. How can you use this model even if you are working in a health facility or other setting which requires an impairment-based assessment, or any assessment that ignores societal barriers?

3. Even if you do not regularly come into contact with people with disabilities in your career, the principles of the strengths approach, empowerment approach and independent living model can be applied in many creative ways. Give at least 2 examples of how you might incorporate the 5 objectives of the Independent Living Model into your current job, or the career field you would like to enter.
