Government actions can affect the economic environment and change incentives facing businesses, sometimes resulting in unintended consequences. This essay is focused on applying lessons from the first four chapters of the text to a real-world situation to illustrate the effects on businesses that government can have.

Activity Instructions
Research the aspects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that will affect businesses.  Briefly summarize the regulations to which businesses must comply. What unintended behavior would you expect to see from businesses? Propose an alternative set of regulations that alleviates some of those issues. Would your proposals induce unintended behavior?
