2 Essay papers for MUSIC class

Concerts: During the semester each student is expected to attend two live jazz performances and write one two-page paper describing both experiences. Performances may be on or off campus. They may be formal or informal. They may be free or expensive. They may be professional, amateur, or students. But, they must be live performances. There is no particular format for this paper, because every experience is different. Use your imagination. Your report can be personal and informal, but it needs to include enough specific information to convince me that you actually were in attendance. I don’t really need ticket stubs or programs. However, I would like to know if there was anything you learned in class that helped you understand the performance or increased you enjoyment. The concert report is graded either  +,   , or   -. And accounts for about 10% of your grade.

Book Report: After reading Crow’s Jazz Anecdotes, each student will write a         two-page book report. Once again there is no specific format. Use your imagination and feel free to be personal and informal. I want to know if you liked the book and if it taught you anything, but mostly, I want to feel secure that you did read the book. The book report is also graded   +,   , or    - and accounts for the other 10% of your grade
