What does the Inquisition and its procedures say about the goals of the medieval Roman church?  Based upon your reading of the materials on the Inquisition in documents , would you argue that the ambition of the Church was more to help the orthodox recognize orthodoxy or to silence the heterodox?  Please build your case on those documents and the other assigned materials for the course.  Essays should cite some combination of at least four sources (published materials, lectures, films).  Essays will be graded on the logic and coherence of the argument .
