I read the article on Jim Hough, the arsonist that shocked his friends and family when he was arrested. I thought it was weird Jim never showed any sign of stress, distress, or even the fact that he started the fires. Many arsonists show signs at a young age that continue on later in life. Jim did not show any of theses. He even said he didn't know why he set them, when asked why he did it, he could not pinpoint the reason for his actions other than he did it. He did not show any behavioral typology such as expressive-person, expressive-object, instrumental-person, or instrumental-object. His wife even said he did not show excessive interest in the campfire they made when on camping trips or when he was younger. The only thing I could see him linked to is pyromania, a psychiatric term for an "irresistible urge" or passion to set fires along with an intense fascination with flames. According to the article, Hough set many fires and went undetected for three years until finally one day he was spotted leaving the scene of a fire he started. I thought it was crazy that he was not caught or didn't show any signs like some other arsonists would.

I chose to read about Jim Hough the serial arsonist.  The behavioral typology that I would think he would fall into would be the expressive-object pattern.  For this to apply to him it would have to consider the fact that he set multiple fires and that he did enjoy the trill when he first set them.  What does not make sense is that after the initial rush of setting the fire he got no thrill of watching it burn.  He even stated that he asked himself why did he do that.  Some of the reasons that he might have done this could be that his father was a heavy drinker and that could have had led to some childhood abuse that we are not told about.  Another reason could be also that Hough was also a heavy drinker.
