TPS Data Use

1. Record today’s date
2. Find a receipt from a point-of-sale (POS) machine.
3. Record the types of data that are printed on the receipt. An example of data types could be a date, store name, store ID, item ID, item description, item price, customer ID, total price, website URL.
4. What other types of systems could interact with the POS as a sale is processed (cite sources)?
5. Draw conclusions about how the company uses the data recorded by the POS. Find and cite one or more sources referenced to answer question 4.

(Recall that TPSs record data and management information systems (MISs) process the data into information for use by managers. How do you think the business will process and use the data recorded by the POS machine?)
