Astrology relies heavily on making assumptions and predictions about people’s lives, which can’t be scientifically proven. Then why do people still believe in this pseudo-science? It is mainly because astrology acts as an escaping mechanism for people to run away from their problems. It tells people what they want to hear and distances them from accepting their fault and believing that it’s actually the planets and the stars that are to blame; and who wouldn’t like that? And if the horoscope turns out in favor of them, it comforts people that the cosmic alignments are on their side. Sometimes people use zodiac signs and their specific characteristics in order to communicate with people of those particular zodiac signs. For example, Pisceans are considered extremely sensitive and fickle minded people. Reading about these traits in the newspaper as part of a horoscope leads people to believe that they have found the key to efficiently communicate with a Piscean. Now this might not necessarily be true as people often do not portray their exact true selves in front of others. Essentially, the pivotal reason behind even the smart and intelligent people believing in astrology and horoscopes is that everyone likes to find solace and guidance when it comes to every day’s trivial matters and give meaning to them. They look to fill the general emptiness that surrounds them and astrology just happens to fill that void by creating an illusion of support. Comment by Dipanjan Maitra: Good. Comment by Dipanjan Maitra: Expand on this, what this emptiness that astrology exploits? How? What are these unanswered questions about? Why does science fail to eradicate astrology? GRADE: B+

This is my response on Horoscopes. You can write a lot on this. Lemme know if you have any questions. It basically has to be different than mine.
