Introduction
Even though if we let animals grow without any control, there would be no space on earth for the human beings, we should respect non-human animals in the way we as individuals live our lives. because Animals too have the emotions and feelings and they also love us if we show our love and care to them and in many cases they proved to be even better friends of us., We being the more intelligent citizen of earth have the more moral responsibilities towards the well-being of non-human citizens of earth, and Animals have the same rights on the earth as we the human beings have.
Explanation
First, we should respect non-human animals in the way we as individuals live our lives because Animals too have the emotions and feelings and they also love us if we show our love and care to them and in many cases they proved to be even better friends of us. Research has proved that they have feelings, emotions, wants and needs. They have both positive and negative emotions and today almost all the scientists believe that “vertebrate animals — mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish — are, to varying degrees, sentient.” (Jonathan Balcombe 2014). Animals are great friends of human beings and that’s why now days most of the families have some animal as pet. It is very common that sometimes dogs die protecting their human friends. We use them for carriage and transportation as well and they never say no even if we behave cruelly.
Additionally, we being the more intelligent citizen of earth have the more moral responsibilities towards the well-being of non-human citizens of earth. So eating them, killing them or exploiting them is very unethical. We should respect their desires same as human beings. However we should give preference to a human life as compare to the animal. So the use of few animals for scientific research is ethical if it can save numerous human’s lives. Additionally many animals are cured by the same medicine as are the human beings so it could be in the favor of the animals as well.
Finally, the most important reason we should respect non-human animals in the way we as individuals live our lives as Animals have the same rights on the earth as we the human beings have because they own the earth as much as we humans do. In fact they are the older citizens of the earth and we humans born very late as compared to them. Government being our representative has the more responsibility to protect the rights of its non-human citizens. Additionally as it has power to punish and has ability to make and implement law so its responsibility is higher.
Conclusion
Indeed, while if we let animals grow without any control, there would be no space on earth for the human beings but the situation can easily be controlled with planning in the same way as we are controlling the population of human being but the way would be bit different. We should respect non-human animals in the way we as individuals live our lives because they possess all the things a human do except that they are somewhat less intelligent and less developed than us.
