Speaking clearly, listening attentively (Dr. Covey, "Seek first to understand than to be understood," Steven Covey's link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTLMmwXbIEE)), and expressing information in a way that others may understand are all parts of effective communication.

Play Dr. Covey's Seek First to Understand first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTLMmwXbIEE then have a look at Brene Brown's speech on the value of vulnerability  Brené Brown: The power of vulnerability | TED Talk ( https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_the_power_of_vulnerability?language=en).

Please write a 5 page (250 words per page) paper that examines the significance of both perspectives for leadership communication. You must examine how seeking first to understand before you are understood will help you while communicating with others and as an ethical leader. Consider including concepts discussed this week and in prior lectures. Your grade will be based delivery and your understanding of the subject matter.

Expectations for Writing: In all courses within the Institute for Ethical Leadership, the following writing standards are expected to be followed, unless otherwise specified for a particular writing assignment. Not adhering to the following writing standards will result in substantially lower grades on writing assignments.

    •    Proper grammar and punctuation are mandatory.

    •    Proper sentence structure is required. This means…

    •    Refraining from “tweet-talk” in your assignments

    •    Ensure that sentences have a subject, verb, and (when needed) an object.

    •    Completing all sentences with no sentence fragments.

    •    Maintaining “proper sentence structure.”

    •    Evidence of significant thought throughout the assignment.

    •    For assignments that require citations, use the American Psychological Association (APA)

7th edition style. A proper APA citation and reference document are expected.

    •    The

Purdue OWL website is a great resource for basic APA 7th application:
