The evolution of the global and virtual (Web-based) societies of the twenty-first century

Module 4 states that the world is being transformed to a homogenous culture. This is also the premise of Ritzer's theory of MacDonalization, particularly of modernized or modernizing societies. Are there current examples that contradict this? Please explain.
